Civics Prerequisites: None Grade: 9 Length: Semester
Civics is a survey course designed to expose each student to the basic organization and operation of government at the local, state, and national level. The purpose and forms of government are also covered in this course.
World Geography Prerequisites: None Grade: 9 Length: Semester
This course surveys the importance of the study of geography, the different methods of study, the formation of land forms, the formation and prediction of weather, as well as a systematic examination of cultures around the world.
World History Prerequisites: None Grade: 10 Length: Full Year
World History covers relevant historical events, people and cultures beginning with creation of the world and ending with current world issues. This course will focus on global development of all major civilizations throughout the various ages of world growth. Lessons will reinforce map skills and knowledge of global geography.
United States History Prerequisites: None Grade: 11 Length: Full Year
United States History is a survey course of American history beginning with colonial times and culminating in an examination of contemporary history. A close examination of current events will also take place.
United States History (H) Prerequisites: None Grade: 11 Length: Full Year
United States History is a survey course of American history beginning with colonial times and culminating in an examination of contemporary history. A close examination of current events will also take place. The honor level course differs from the regular course in the way that it is taught and the expectations that accompany it - not in the content covered. Notes are given entirely in oral form which requires students to take notes selectively in a manner that will support their personal study of the material.
Economics Prerequisites: None Grade: 12 Length: Full Year
Economics is designed to provide each student with the basic understanding of our currency system, the concepts relating to our free enterprise system, and the development of basic life skills as it relates to the financial well being of the individual, family, and business world.
Psychology 1 Prerequisites: None Grades: 11-12 Length: Semester
Psychology I is designed to be an introduction to the science of understanding, explaining, and predicting human behavior. Students will explore the history, scientific methods, and development of psychology. Students will also have an opportunity to examine their own values and beliefs.
Psychology 2 Prerequisites: None Grades: 11-12 Length: Semester
Psychology II is a brief review of the science of psychology, its history and growth as well as the psychological processes that contribute to behavior. Life stages and gender difficulties will be studied in conjunction with emotions, personality, and stress factors. A look at abnormal behaviors and their treatment will also be included in the course. |
