Extended Algebra 1 (Part 1 and Part 2) Prerequisites: None Grades: 9-10 Length: Two Full Years
This course is designed to provide the student with mastery of all topics covered in a standard course of Algebra I. The pacing of this course is designed to enable the student to have an opportunity for more skills practice and teacher guided work.
Algebra 1 Prerequisites: None Grade: 9 Length: Full Year
This course is a continuation and expansion of the concepts developed in junior high school. Topics will also include solving equations, complex equations, multi-variable equations, graphing, factoring, and an introduction to radicals and quadratics.
Geometry Prerequisites: Algebra 1 Grades: 10-11 Length: Full Year
This course is designed to increase the student’s knowledge of geometric shapes and their relationships. Topics include lines, planes, segments, angles, polygons (especially triangles) and circles. Students will learn formal direct proofs as well as indirect proofs of theorems.
Special Materials: Compass, Protractor, Ruler
Geometry (H) Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Department Approval Grades: 10-11 Length: Full Year
This more-in-depth course is designed to increase the student’s knowledge of geometric shapes and their relationships. Topics include lines, planes, segments, angles, polygons (especially triangles) and circles. Students will learn formal direct proofs as well as indirect proofs of theorems.
Special Materials: Compass, Protractor, Ruler
Algebra 2 Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Geometry or Department Approval Grades: 11-12 Length: Full Year
Algebra 2 is an in-depth continuation of the materials studied in Algebra 1 with more emphasis on the theoretical aspects of algebra as it examines the real number system. The course also touches on such topics as trigonometry, logarithms, and probability.
Special Materials: TI 83+ Graphing calculator
Survey of Mathematics Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Geometry Grade: 12 Length: Full Year
This course is designed to keep senior students' fundamental mathematics skills sharp by reviewing major concepts from Algebra and Geometry and thereby better preparing them for basic level college mathematics courses.
Special Materials: Scientific Calculator
Pre-Calculus (H) Prerequisites: Algebra 2, Geometry, Department Approval Grades: 11-12 Length: Full Year
This course provides good preparation for college courses in calculus, abstract algebra and probability. The course is also designed to help facilitate the student’s move to college level math courses by presenting the material in a variety of methods to best prepare the student for similar techniques and approaches in college.
Special Materials: TI 83+ Graphing Calculator
Calculus (H) Prerequisites: Pre-Calculus, Department Approval Grade: 12 Length: Full Year
This course covers in detail the material of first year Calculus. Topics covered include functions, limits, derivations and integrals. Applications of derivations and integrals will also be covered.
Special Materials: TI 83+ Graphing Calculator |
